Project Estimator

Job Description:

The Project Estimator is involved throughout the bidding process beginning with sending out invitations to sub-contractors for upcoming projects, scoping out the project manual & drawings, configuring takeoffs for high volume project divisions, answering sub-contractors’ questions, and setting up the cost summary spreadsheet. On bid day, the Estimator will take the lead of assembling the proposal and submitting it to the owner on time.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Prepare accurate estimates by gathering proposals, specifications and related documents

· Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents

· Analyze and identify project scope of work for bid solicitations

· Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements

· Prepares construction budget by studying blue prints, updating specifications, identifying and projecting costs

· Present well prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information

· Work both independently and with team members to accomplish company goals

· Maintains quality service by following organization standards

· Maintains continuity among team members by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs

· Completes all required bid documentation to include bid bonds, insurance, unit pricing, etc.

Secondary Responsibilities:

· Answering sub-contractor questions

· Attending pre-bid meetings

· Any other task required of the estimating team

Desired Skills:

· Effective communicator

· Self-starter and Leader

· Must be proficient with MS Office

· Must have very good working knowledge of Excel

· Must be familiar with both Private and Public bid processes

· Must be familiar with bidding software platforms such as ISqFt and BlueBeam

Qualifications:

· High School diploma or equivalent required

· College degree preferred

· 5 years of Construction Estimating experience preferred

· 2 years of construction field experience preferred
